What happens when students and neighbors take the stage together? This isn’t just theatre! It’s a new community tradition!
Our community members have been dedicating their summers to bringing The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, a Tony Award-winning musical, to life. The cast and crew are gearing up for performances August 14-17 at Chautauqua Fine Arts Center.
MHS Theater Manager Renn Joslyn is proud to unite people who might have never crossed paths, and who are learning and growing artistically with each other. Some of our cast members shared firsthand the impact of learning from one another in this community production.
Lydia: “I feel like with theater, there is always so much to learn. You can learn from people older than you and younger than you, and it’s such a cool experience to be able to grow with other people you usually don’t have the experience of working with."
Eve: “This production is special, because there are people from all over, people I haven’t been to school with, people I haven’t done community shows with before, and I think it’s really powerful to connect with people outside your usual range."
Bridget: “I am so proud of the work and the dedication from the cast and the crew, and I am so excited to bring this show to life on stage.”
