Dr. Chris Hergenrader
Welcome to the 2019-20 school year!  It is great to have you as part of my classes.  My name is Chris Hergenrader.  While this is my first year as a teacher at Mahtomedi, I have lived in the district for several years and have two children attending school here.

I taught at St. Anthony Village for the past 11 years (with one year as a principal in the Shakopee school district).  I was also the head boys basketball coach at St. Anthony Village for the last 6 years. This year, I am teaching Biology and College in the Schools Physiology.  I will be using Google Classroom for these classes.  Students will be able to join the classes with class-specific codes once the school year starts.  There, they will find information for the class, a daily "blog" type schedule explaining what was done in case they miss class, and any handouts/PowerPoints, etc. that we use in the course.

Students usually call me Dr. H as I was a veterinarian for 12 years before going into teaching.  I worked in a dairy practice and then owned a small animal hospital with my wife, who is a practicing veterinarian in White Bear Lake.  It is fun to bring those veterinary experiences into the classroom with me to help bring life sciences alive for the kids.

I have my Bachelors and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degrees from Iowa State University, my Masters degree from Hamline, and my Doctorate of Education from Bethel.

Please email me at with any questions.

***Note for E-learning days***
Students are to login to Google Classroom for that day's lesson.  Students who told Dr. H they did not have internet access will have an assignment already in place.

I am looking forward to a great school year!
