SCHOLARSHIPS AND FINANCIAL AID

Financial Aid Information Night

The MHS counselors hosted a financial aid informational Zoom webinar on Wednesday, January 20 at 7:00PM. Jeff Olson, Financial Aid Director at Bethel University, was the main presenter and shared information with families about the financial aid process. In addition, the counselors provided information about local scholarship opportunities as well as how to expand the search for scholarships.

In addition to filling out individual scholarship applications students should also talk with parents about completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This is the main financial aid application that can help students qualify for federal, state and college aid. The application can be accessed at: www.fafsa.gov.

Another form that some colleges require is called the CSS/Financial Aid Profile.  Not all colleges require so be sure to check with your school to see if they do.  This application can be accessed at: https://student.collegeboard.org/css-financial-aid-profile.

We also encourage families to check out what is called the Net Price Calculator.   This new tool is mandatory on all colleges websites, and can give you an idea of what your net price would be at each individual college.

Many scholarships will require a transcript. Families can order a transcript from Parchment by visiting www.parchment.com. For more information about transcripts and Parchment, please visiti our Order a Transcript page.

There are also many individual scholarships that students are encouraged to apply for through their college or the counseling office.  To view a list of local, state, and other scholarship resources, use the link at the top or the bottom of this page.  As we are made aware of new scholarships and updated information they will be added to the list, so please bookmark the site and check back frequently!

Our School
Mahtomedi High School has a heart for innovation, provides rigorous academic coursework, and supports students to explore extracurricular opportunities. Our teachers and staff are passionate and dedicated people who explore innovative ideas and teach our students new ways of thinking to support them in whatever career path they choose. Students engage in project-based learning to solve real-world problems using industry-standard technology in the nation’s first M.I.T. certified FabLab housed in a public school. Fine arts is a vital and robust part of the High School and our visual and performing arts classes include ceramics, digital art, choir, band, and event broadcasting. We also offer Flex Time during the school day when students may receive academic support, engage in college and career exploration, and connect over common interests. Over 90% of our student community engages in extracurricular activities that range from athletics to robotics. Students’ social and emotional learning is addressed through various avenues including a restorative practices approach for student behavior and through our Zephyr Link Crew mentoring program.
