Minnesota State Assessments

The Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCAs) are the state tests that help districts measure student progress toward Minnesota's academic standards and meet the requirements of No Child Left Behind.

Beginning this year, all tests will be administered online.

Due to action by the Legislature duing its 2013 session, new graduation requirements will be phased in over the next two school years, and be fully in place for the 2015-2016 school year.  The Writing assessment for 9th grade has already been eliminated. Apart from that, Mahtomedi expects its graduation assessment process to remain the same as it has been until changes are announced and implemented.

Test windows have been set for  2013-2014 school year  by the State of Minnesota.  We have chosen to administer our assessment between the following dates:

10th Grade Reading - TBD, please check back
10th Grade Science - TBD, please check back
11th Grade Math - TBD, please check back

Assessments will be administered during the appropriate class time during these windows. PSEO students are expected to contact the High School Assessment Coordinator to make arrangements for their testing.

Please refrain from scheduling vacations and appointments during scheduled testing times.

See the links at the left for a GRAD Retesting Schedule and other helpful information.

Our School
Mahtomedi High School has a heart for innovation, provides rigorous academic coursework, and supports students to explore extracurricular opportunities. Our teachers and staff are passionate and dedicated people who explore innovative ideas and teach our students new ways of thinking to support them in whatever career path they choose. Students engage in project-based learning to solve real-world problems using industry-standard technology in the nation’s first M.I.T. certified FabLab housed in a public school. Fine arts is a vital and robust part of the High School and our visual and performing arts classes include ceramics, digital art, choir, band, and event broadcasting. We also offer Flex Time during the school day when students may receive academic support, engage in college and career exploration, and connect over common interests. Over 90% of our student community engages in extracurricular activities that range from athletics to robotics. Students’ social and emotional learning is addressed through various avenues including a restorative practices approach for student behavior and through our Zephyr Link Crew mentoring program.
